One of the best materials for knife is Zytel, a product manufactured by Dupont. The technical description of Zytel Dupont says, "is a family of nylon polymers for a range of professional products for the supply of components, such as harsh environments, withstands aggressive chemicals, flame, heat, cold and too wet, moisture design provides. "

Less commercially described, Zytel nylon material often with fiberglass for added strength and resistance to increasedsolvents. It holds up well in extreme conditions and is extremely tough and resists corrosion. It can survive for long periods in salt-water conditions which makes it a good choice for knife handles used by the Navy SEALs. Another feature important to the SEALs is that it does not become slippery when wet.
